OUR MISSION

Transforming Lives with It's Ok 2 Not Be Ok

"It’s Okay to Not Be Okay" was built on the idea that no one should feel abandoned or hopeless when life gets tough. Our mission is to help teen moms, single mothers, and domestic violence victims regain their voice, access essential resources, and secure safe housing. We believe that with the right support, anyone can overcome their circumstances and achieve greatness.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where everyone, regardless of their past, has the opportunity to build a successful and fulfilling life. "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" represents the belief that life is not always perfect, but with grace, understanding, and support, we can all grow and succeed, no matter which path we take.

OUR STORY

The heart of "It's Ok to Not Be Ok" lies in the personal journey of our founder, Shaunell Kennard. As a teen mom who became pregnant in the 9th grade, Shaunell faced intense judgment and rejection from family, friends, and school activities. Told that she would amount to nothing and encouraged to abandon her dreams, she was cast out by those she had once relied on for support.

But instead of giving up, Dr. Shaunell Kennard found the strength and determination to defy the odds stacked against her. Despite the challenges, she graduated high school with a 3.0 GPA, finished on time, and went on to earn her associate's degree from Atlanta Metropolitan College in 2007. Her educational journey continued at Georgia State University, where she further proved her resilience by earning multiple degrees.

Today, Shaunell Kennard is not only a successful business owner but also a proud mother and grandmother. Her achievements have shattered the expectations placed upon her, and she now holds four college degrees, with the title of "Dr." soon to be added to her name.
